Here is a picture of Alli and her creation! :)

My Sewing Attempt… March 17, 2008

Filed under: Sewing — grnkidscorner @ 1:58 pm

Progress on my apron is going slow. Very slow. More like non-existent. My machine is acting up and I don’t know how to fix it. The thread keeps bunching up inside, and I’ve tried playing around with it, but so far nothing has worked. Everything always looks normal until I go to make a stitch. Some suggestions on what may be wrong and how to fix it would be very much appreciated! :)

Good Morning! March 14, 2008

Good morning friends! I feel so bright and cheerful this morning and I hope you do too.

The snow is finally starting to melt away. Yippee! Hopefully it will stay away now and we’ll get some warmer weather in time for Easter. Oh! Please let it be so :) ! Haha. Well, though it may be hard to believe since I’ve been making  a big deal about the snow and such, I must say that I actually really don’t mind it that much( Sounds like an oxymoron).  I think that I’m even going to miss it when it goes away. When we move back to KY there won’t be anymore white Christmases or snow balls or snow men.  There also won’t be the guarantee that my dog won’t come back into the  house with her paws not dirty :) .  Oh well!

If you’re wondering why you haven’t seen anymore pictures of my apron in progress, it’s because the progress hasn’t been in progress! Ummm…in other words, it hasn’t been worked on since last Sunday.  But to make up for not working on the apron I have been baking more. The other day I made banana bread and cookies (actually the cookies were no-bakes :) ).  The bread is gone already and half of the cookies are gone too! That’s what happens when you have two men in the house I guess.  I think that I’m going to make some more banana bread today or I might try a recipe that I got off of Alli’s blog ( www.sheworkswithherhands.typepad.com )for Oatmeal-banana bars ( we like bananas).

If you’re needing a nice recipe for no-bake cookies, the recipe below is really good. Only if you are crazy about butterscotch and are not allergic to peanut butter though :) !

Peanutbutter & Butterscotch Cookies

-1 12oz. bag of butterscotch morsels

- 1/2 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter

- 4 cups corn flakes cereal

Melt butterscotch morsel in a large pan, then add peanut butter and stir until it also is melted. Put heat on very low and add cornflakes. Stir until cereal is nicely coated with the butterscotch/peanut butter. Take off heat. On wax paper spoon out mixture and leave to set. Enjoy! If you have any questions just ask!

Okay! I figured it out. Here are my pics as promised.  Do you think that I should undue everything and add the two parts that I missed? I’m concerned that everytime I look at it I will be dissatisfied.

My Sewing Attempt March 8, 2008

Filed under: Sewing — grnkidscorner @ 6:31 pm

I have really wanted to learn how to sew but always thought that I needed someone or a book next to me to tell me how to do everything. Well, when I was in MN back in January my Aunt encouraged me to just get my sewing machine out and start sewing. Pretty much just live and learn. So yesterday I did. I’m working on a apron pattern that my same aunt gave to me two Christmas’ ago. My Grandmother and I started on it a long time ago, but never finished.  Last evening I got everything back out and started to sew. I thought that I was doing pretty good, and I also thought that I had gotten all my peices out of the bag and only left in the waist band and waist ties. Haha, not very funny. I realized, after I had pretty much sewn everything together that I had accidentaly left in two big pieces. Oh well! Thankfully I think that I can make it still work without the two pieces. Live and learn is exactly what I have done :) . I think that my main thing is learning how to better read and follow the pattern instructions. I did have some sewing classes when I was still going to home school co-op but that was awhile ago. If ya don’t use it, ya lose it! So I’m not always sure what certain words mean. Anyway, even though I messed up, I think that it’s still pretty cute. I would put some pictures up but WordPress won’t let me upload them for some reason. I’ll put them up when I figure it out what’s wrong.
