“If it were not for the Belly, the Back might wear gold.”?

Now, I am not usually a quote person, but I found some more that I thought were really interesting. Some I think are beneficial, and others quite funny. They were  written by one of our country’s great founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin. Enjoy.

The sleeping Fox catches no poultry.

Employ thy time well, if thou meanest to gain leisure.

Be always ashamed to catch thyself idle.

Eat to live; live not to eat.

A fat kitchin, a lean Will.

If it were not for the Belly, the Back might wear gold. (could someone please interpret? 🙂 )

To lengthen thy Life, lessen thy Meals.

To-morrow I’ll reform, the fool does say; To-day itself’s too late; – the wise did yesterday.

A learned Blockhead is a greater Blockhead than an ignorant one.

He’s a Fool that makes his Doctor his Heir.

Who pleasure gives, Shall joy receive.

He that lieth down with dogs, shall rise up with fleas. 🙂

Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead. (Yikes!)

Fish and visitors stink after three days. (I have to say that I agree about the fish, but our family has had many visitors over the years and thankfully I can say that none of them have been that bad 🙂 )
