One week to go

Only one week to go till the big day…

So many emotions are whirling inside of me the more I realize that the day of departure is coming closer and closer.  I feel excitement, anticipation, joy, thrill, sadness, a pinch of stress, and a butterfly or two in my stomach.  I praise God for this opportunity of a life time that He is giving me. I don’t feel deserving of it. What have I done to deserve such trust? I am deeply humbled. I can only hope and pray that I will represent Him well.

I want to publicly thank all those who have committed to praying for me while I am away and also to those who have generously given their financial gifts to help make this trip even possible. There are not words enough to describe my gratitude to you.

I look forward to sharing with everyone my experiences and what I believe the Lord is speaking to me. May He bless you abundantly!

Love,

Megan

Great news!

I have some wonderful news to share. GRN has raised almost $20,000 for the IDP Camp in southern Sudan!!! This is truly an act of the Lord. It has been amazing of how many people have responded so quickly to reach out to these people. To date we have been able to give about 200 children food supplements!  Pretty soon my father and my brother will be going back to get everything else. And praise God, we will also be able to drill a well!!!! We’re hoping that enough money will come in so we can also buy bags of food for the village. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped by praying and giving your sacrificial gifts!

Amma’s Birthday

Papa and Amma left this morning. I wish they could have stayed longer, but, I am very thankful for the few days we did have with them.

Here are some pictures that I took yesterday while we celebrated Amma’s birthday.

Urgent Need in Sudan!!

6uhHi All,

This is an update from my Dad who is in Sudan right now.  His assistant, John, wrote this on our website www.grnconnect.org. PLEASE take the time to read this. Thank you!

Dear GRN Team,

We had an urgent need come up here recently. Within walking distance of our compound in Sudan, there is a Displaced People’s Camp where approximately 1200 people are starving and eating leaves and such for food (they cook the leaves from the trees). Kids there have the bloated stomachs as a result of the starvation. Tom said he hasn’t seen anything this bad since the war was occurring. The people have been displaced from land and home as a result of the LRA rebel group that you have heard so much about. These people are literally right in the “backyard” of our work in Sudan.

Tom and A.C. are leaving Sudan in the morning. They are 7 hours ahead of us on the clock (eastern time).

If you would like to give to help these people who are suffering in southern Sudan, please email me back as soon as possible. There is still time to give money to our field coordinator in Sudan who will use the money to help meet the urgent needs of these people. We have already received $1200 from a generous friend towards helping these people get what they need to survive.

Again, it is dinner time in Sudan now and Tom is leaving in the am, if you would like to join efforts with the money that has already been given, contact me asap and we will hopefully be able to get funds to our field coordinator before Tom and AC leave in the morning.

Please pray for these people and for wisdom for the entire GRN team in Loka, Sudan. Please forward this also to anyone you may think would be willing to give or pray.

Thank you for your prayers and generosity as we make a difference in Jesus’ name,

John

Thailand Progress Report :)

hat-yai-circled1 This is the letter I will be sending out this week in hopes of raising support for my trip 🙂 . It is subject to change a little bit before I send it out though.

I just wanted to let you know how things are moving along! If you read it, you’ll notice that a date has been set for my departure!

March 23, 2009

Dear ____________,

As you may already know, earlier this year my father and I took a trip to Hat Yai, southern Thailand. We visited our very good missionary friends Brian and Mary Beth Stubenrauch, their family, and the team they are working with. Our time with them was a wonderful and growing experience. I quickly grew attached to the Thai people, the country, and the whole team. The Lord also really drew me to Himself and I felt that He may have been using our trip as a tool to reopen desires I had in my heart, when I was a little girl, to be a missionary.

I am writing this letter to you to inform you that the Stubenrauchs and the team have offered me an open door to come back to Thailand to serve with them and to give me an on-the-field experience.

After many weeks of prayer, thought, fasting, and seeking counsel from my parents and others, I do believe the Lord is leading me to return for an extended stay. It is my prayer that by going back, He will continue to speak to me and show me if foreign missions is truly the direction He wants me to be heading. For it is my sole desire to hear His voice and obey Him.

I would like to ask you to please keep my family and me in your prayers as we make this transition in our lives. I will be leaving on June 9th and I have committed to staying until September (by the end of this time I/we will decide if the Lord is leading me to stay longer). This will be the longest and farthest I have ever been away from my family.  And, I also want to ask you to please pray about the possibility of financially supporting me for this trip.  It is my goal to raise all the money I will need for the time I will be gone by May 20th or sooner if possible.  Below is a list of the needs I have and the estimated cost for each:

Plane ticket$2,000 +/-

3 months rent, food, electric bills, emergency, etc. – $2,500- $3,000

Computer (So I can communicate with my family via email/webcam and also keep up with the GRN Kid’s Corner newsletter) $1,060

Motor scooter- $800-$1,500 (I may be able to purchase a used one)

Approx. Total: $6,360-$7,560

If you are unable to financially support me at this time, I completely understand; it is your prayers that I covet and appreciate the most.

If you would like to receive email updates from me while I am away, I have inserted a small slip of paper with this letter that you can fill out with your information. Some space has also been made for you, if you so choose, to be able to write down any prayer needs you may have that I can be praying for, and, an envelope has been included for your convenience.

Thank you so much for believing in the call of God on my life and for your love and support. You mean more to me than I can ever say! May the Lord bless you!

Love in Christ,

Megan Zurowski

Slow Week

42-19626126Well, it’s been quite the slow week. Not much has been happening lately. I have been pretty much at a complete loss of what to write about :) . This post may be more random than anything.

My Bible courses have been going  well. I haven’t made it too far yet, but, I know once I really get a hang of them, things will get a little bit easier. I’m starting from the beginning: the book of Genesis.  Right now I’m working on the Creation Stage. It’s been really interesting already of the things I’m learning that I have never even thought about before.

Matthew is starting to make some cute little sounds and squeals. I’m probably partial, but I think he must be the current cutest baby on earth! 🙂 And Jeremiah is the cutest three year old and John is the most handsome almost sixteen year old (sixteen? ahhh! I can’t believe it!).  🙂

42-19856313 It definitely looks like I’ll be heading back to Thailand in June. We’re trying to set up so I can travel with Mary Beth’s mother who is also planning on visiting at that same time. I hope it works out. Brian just sent me a note the other day telling me what I’ll need to prepare for financially. I’m going to need quite a bit of money but, I know that if this is what the Lord wants me to do, He will provide everything that I will need. At this point it looks like I’ll be needing about $2,500 to live there for the 3 months. That will cover the monthly rent, electric, food, etc. which I will also be splitting with two other women.  Plus, my plane ticket will probably be about $2,000. I will also need a little over $1,000 to be able to buy a good computer so I can communicate with my family, and $1,000-$1,500 for a scooter when I get there. Whew! I have been so blessed already though by some friends who have sent in some gifts towards my trip. I can’t wait to see how God will provide the rest!

So, there’s my random post 🙂

Keith Green – To Obey is Better than Sacrifice

This song, sung by Keith Green, is right to the point of what the Lord wants of us. He doesn’t just want our Sundays and Wednesday nights, He wants us everyday. We need to give Him our lives to do with whatever He wants. I also believe the words of this song are perfect for this time we are living in. With all the money problems going on, it’s good to be reminded that as Christians, we don’t live by the economy of this world.  🙂 We can’t be afraid to give…to sacrifice…
